Sand Volleyball Survives NCAA Vote

February 5, 2010 / Athletic AdministrationVolleyball
Beach volleyball can be played as a Division I sport starting next year. Called “sand volleyball,” the sport survived an NCAA vote in which 58 percent of voters cast a vote against the sport. However, a “no” vote of 62.5 percent was needed to eliminate it as a potential varsity NCAA sport. Now, sand volleyball has 10 years to build enough teams to earn official status as an NCAA championship sport.
