Just when you think it’s another day at the office with the Washington State football team, Mike Leach announces a Twitter ban. Read on.

We do have practice notes for you, but the bigger news occurred afterward.

Leach was asked if he has a policy regarding the use of Twitter by players.

Turns out that as of today, yes, he does.

“Twitter’s now banned around here, so don’t expect anything on Twitter,” Leach said. “Twitter’s banned and quite frankly, if after today you see anything on Twitter from our team — and I don’t care if it says, ’I love life’ — I would like to see it, because I will suspend them.”

Oh. What prompted that?

“Because I decided to,” Leach said. “That’s what prompted that.”

So that’s that, apparently. I spoke a bit with athletic director Bill Moos this evening, and he said he backs Leach’s decision, and that too many tweets from WSU players are “vulgar” and not something he would want kids reading.
