University of Michigan Athletic Director David Brandon seeks approval to install a $2.8 million electronic marquee near the school’s football stadium.

AnnArbor.com reported that the marquee would be between Michigan Stadium, Crisler Center and Stadium Boulevard and would have both video and audio capabilities.

Brandon made the request in a memo to the board of regents, which must approve the expenditure before an architectural firm can begin designing it.

The board is expected to make a decision on the marquee during a meeting Thursday.

The marquee would be funded by the athletic department and, if approved, would be completed next year.
