Romulus— Officials at the Summit Academy Schools have confirmed the firing of their varsity football coach/athletic director after it was determined he used racial slurs before team members.

School director Alison Cancilliari said Rob Beaudrie was no longer working at the school after several similar incidents.

“A situation recently came to our attention involving Summit North High School Athletic Director and Football Coach Rob Beaudrie regarding his use of inappropriate language prior to the Redford football game,” Cancilliari said in a press release. “Following a thorough investigation, two additional situations involving violations of MHSAA policies were brought to our attention.”

Cancilliari said Beaudrie — who had worked for the school system for about two years — was released after further investigations showed that he had violated policy three times.

The violation allegedly occurred in pregame warm-ups before a Friday night game and that players on the opposing team were the target of the slurs.

Officials at Summit Academy said they have also decided to separate the positions of athletic director and head coach.
