The National Federation of State High School Associations says North Dakota is one of only four states that had losses in student participation since 2002.
West Fargo boys basketball coach Greg Limke (LIM’-kee) says students are quitting sports at an earlier age. He says if players don’t feel they can be stars in their sport, they sometimes give up.
The state Department of Public Instruction says North Dakota’s total high school enrollment has dropped 9 percent since 2002.
