Some Baseball Teams In Calif. Dumping Aluminum Bats

April 5, 2010 /
Marin Catholic (Calif.) has started its own “mini-revolt” against the use of aluminum bats in high-school baseball games after its pitcher, Gunnar Sandberg, was struck in the head by a batted ball March 11. Now, nine other teams in the Marin County Athletic League have voted to ban metal bats for the rest of the season. And, the Diamond Sports National Classic baseball tournament, to be held in Orange County, is only using wood bats this week in respect to Marin Catholic. The wooden bats are being supplied via donations from the San Francisco Giants and Oakland Athletics.
