Pelican Rapids Athletic Officials Ponder Potential Change To Four-Day Weeks

While Dave Haugen has been the head football coach at Pelican Rapids High School for more than a decade, this fall could have a different feel.

Earlier this week, the Pelican Rapids School Board approved a four-day school week that would begin this fall, pending Minnesota Department of Education approval.

“This whole school year in sports and the classroom it’s going to be a lot of unknowns that we are dealing with,” said Haugen, who will be entering his 14th year as head football coach. “So it’s going to be kind of exciting. It’s going to make us all feel a little bit like a rookie again I think.
