New York HS hockey player ejected after shoving referee to the ice

A New York high school hockey player could be facing a lengthy suspension after shoving a referee to the ice during a game last weekend.
The Williamsville East player was being ushered off the ice for a roughing penalty when he suddenly turned and shoved a referee, knocking him to the ice. He was immediately ejected from the game, which according to state rules carries an automatic one-game suspension.
Here is video of the incident:The school’s athletic director declined to comment on the incident. Though additional punishment has not yet been announced, schools or state associations tend to come down pretty hard on athletes who make contact with referees.
