Former Memphis Coach Larry Finch Hospitalized

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) – Former University of Memphis basketball coach Larry Finch has been hospitalized in Memphis as he battles “flu-like symptoms.”

Tuesday, Finch’s daughter-in-law confirmed to Action News 5 that the former coach is in an intensive care unit, but family members won’t know anything conclusively about his health for a day or so.

Finch, 59, suffered a debilitating stroke in 2002, and his health has been in decline for years.

As a player, Finch led the Tigers to the NCAA National Championship game in 1973, losing to UCLA. He later coached the Tigers from 1986 to 1997.
