ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — Two La Cueva High School football coaches and a trainer have been suspended without pay for 11 days after being accused of allowing football players to drink alcohol on a team bus.

KOB-TV in Albuquerque identifies the three as head coach Fred Romero, assistant Mike Tixier (TUH-share) and trainer Jeff Archuleta.

Last week Albuquerque schools superintendent Winston Brooks received information about allegations that players were drinking on a bus while returning from a state playoff game Nov. 26 in Las Cruces, where La Cueva lost to Mayfield.

The two coaches won’t be allowed to coach in the Albuquerque district and will be transferred from La Cueva. Archuleta can return to La Cueva after his suspension.

Students involved in the incident remain under investigation.
