FieldTurf Announces 2010 Football Awards

DALLAS, TX (January 7, 2011) – FieldTurf announced the winners of its 5th annual FieldTurf Football Awards for the 2010 season today just before the start of the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Convention in Dallas. Winners were announced in 19 different categories. These awards are based on tabulated votes from FieldTurf executives and consulted on by Howie Long.

This year’s winners are:

NFL Coach of the Year– Mike Smith, Atlanta Falcons
NFL Team of the Year– New England Patriots
NCAA FBS Coach of the Year – Chip Kelly, University of Oregon
NCAA FBS Team of the Year– University of Oregon Ducks
NCAA FCS Coach of the Year– K.C. Keeler, University of Delaware
NCAA Division 2 Coach of the Year– Ron Roberts, Delta State
NCAA Division 3 Coach of the Year – Lance Leipold, University of Wisconsin-Whitewater
CFL Team of the Year – Montreal Alouettes
NAIA Team of the Year – Carroll College
Junior College Team of the Year – Navarro College
National High School Team of the Year– St. Thomas Aquinas High School (FL)
Southwest High School Team of the Year – De La Salle High School (CA)
Northwest High School Team of the Year – Bellevue High School (WA)
Midwest High School Team of the Year – St. Edward High School (OH)
Northeast High School Team of the Year – Bergen Catholic High School (NJ)
Southeast High School Team of the Year – St. Thomas Aquinas High School (FL)
Great Lakes Region High School Team of the Year – Harrison High School (MI)
Metro High School Team of the Year – Don Bosco Preparatory Academy (NJ)
Mid-Atlantic High School Team of the Year – Phoebus High School (VA)

The FieldTurf Coach of the Year Awards recognize a coach’s dedication and hard work both on and off the field. The coaches that have been and will be selected for this award all exemplify outstanding leadership skills and enjoy well-deserved success. Special attention is given to coaches who are able to significantly improve their team’s effort, performance, and overall record from previous years along with coaches who enjoy success with young and inexperienced teams.

The FieldTurf Team of the Year Awards acknowledge teams at all levels of sport that show a passion for the game along with dedication to team play. The teams that will be selected for this award will be teams that have enjoyed success and/or made considerable improvements from previous years within their respective leagues.
