Arkansas coach Bobby Petrino’s latest contract will pay him an average of $3.56 million per year through the end of 2017, ArkansasNews.com reported late last week.

The deal, signed in March and obtained through a Freedom of Information request, also includes one of the nation’s largest known buyouts. It will cost $18 million to break the deal in either of the next two years and $10 million in 2013, 2014 and 2015.

The site reported that Petrino’s contract also includes a non-compete clause that prohibits him from working for another SEC school for the length of the deal. Previous contracts had such an arrangement for schools in the SEC West.

Petrino could also benefit from significant incentives, including $300,000 for winning the national title and $100,000 for an SEC crown.

Neither Petrino nor athletic director Jeff Long commented on the contract in the initial report. Expect more from them on the subject at the upcoming league meetings.
