VICIS announces Zero1 helmet for youth football players
VICIS reinvented the football helmet when it introduced the Zero1 to NFL and NCAA teams in 2017. The helmet ranked first in NFL / NFLPA’s Helmet Laboratory Testing Performance in both 2017 and 2018. In 2018 Virginia Tech Helmet Ratings, which rates helmets based on the impact frequency and severity observed in high school and collegiate play, the Zero1 ranked first and was awarded the highest available “5 STAR” rating.
VICIS has now brought the scientific rigor and creativity behind the Zero1 to youth football with the Zero1 Youth helmet. Like its varsity counterpart, the Zero1 Youth features a deformable outer shell and unique columnar layer designed to slow impact forces like a car bumper. The helmet features a lightweight, compact design tailored to youth anatomies and offers the industry’s widest field of view, allowing young players to see more of the field and react more quickly to potential impacts.“While we started at football’s highest level (introducing the top-ranked Zero1 to NFL and NCAA players), our founding mission has always been to protect kids,” said Dave Marver, VICIS CEO and co-founder. “The announcement and forthcoming availability of the Zero1 Youth helmet is gratifying to everyone at VICIS who has worked so hard to develop this outstanding new technology.”
Recognizing the importance of great fit, the Zero1 Youth offers the AXIS Fit System and DLTA Pods, which can accommodate the wide range of head shapes and sizes found in youth football. DLTA Pods allow coaches and parent volunteers to custom fit a team of kids quickly and efficiently while offering the flexibility to fit multiple players over a helmet’s lifetime.
VICIS will begin taking orders November 1, 2018, for delivery spring 2019
