Representatives with the University of Tulsa revealed Tuesday afternoon that their athletic director was put on paid administrative leave.

TU Athletic Director Ross Parmley is being called an “admitted gambler” by the FBI.

Federal court documents indicate that Parmley paid Oklahoma City bookie Teddy Mitchell $1,782.00.

Federal court records show that Mitchell has been charged.

Parmley has not been charged.

KRMG spoke with FBI officials who say the investigation has been taken over by the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Oklahoma City now that charges have been filed.

Here’s is the statement from President Steadman Upham obtained by KRMG:

TU Athletic Director Ross Parmley has been placed on paid administrative leave pending further investigation into allegations of gambling. In the interim, Executive Vice President Kevan Buck will be acting athletic director.

Parmley has been on the job for less than a year.

He was named Director of Athletics at The University of Tulsa on January 19, 2012.

Three months before that he served as the school’s interim athletics director.
