Thieves Raid Dayton’s Locker Room With Team At Practice
According to the Dayton Daily News, more than $2, 000 in cash and electronics was stolen from the team’s locker room.
According to the report:Junior guard Josh Parker lost a bookbag filled with a laptop, headphones, calculator and textbooks. Senior forward Chris Wright had a wallet with a significant amount of cash pilfered. Freshman guard Juwan Staten had his G2 cell phone taken, and senior center Devin Searcy lost a spare set of sneakers.
The men’s locker room in the campus practice facility (the former PAC building) doesn’t have an exterior door. The players have combination locks on their lockers, but say they can’t get their book bags to fit inside without emptying the contents, choosing instead to leave them by the benches.
The players said the first thing that was noticed missing was freshman Juwan Staten’s cell phone. Staten thought it was his teammates playing a joke on him.
“It started out with him thinking we were playing by taking his phone, and it ended up with guys having some stuff taken for real, Chris Wright said. Sometimes, it’s just like that. It’s crazy that someone would take someone else’s things, but it’s part of life.”
Asked how much he lost, Wright said: “There was a little money. I say whoever got my wallet, they can eat for a couple of days.”
Dayton coach Brian Gregory said the team has given all the information they have to the police. But from now on, the Flyers might be smart to put stuff in the lockers and lock ’em up.
