Penn State assistant coach Tom Bradley has sent text messages to at least two Penn State players to inform them he intends to accept an offer to become the new coach at Pittsburgh.

Citing a team source, PennLive.com reported Wednesday that Bradley sent the following text to one player: “Love you kids. Going to miss you. Wish I could take you with me. Anything I can do for you, let me know.”

WTAE in Pittsburgh first reported Wednesday night that Bradley would be named the school’s football coach. The school immediately denied that report, and issued a statement saying no offer had been made.

Bradley interviewed for the job Tuesday and, apparently, is the Panthers’ choice. He was also a finalist for the Temple job when that was open.

The Panthers need a new coach for the second time in a month after Michael Haywood, who was arrested Dec. 31 on a felony domestic violence charge, was fired Jan. 1 just two weeks after he was hired.

In addition to Bradley, multiple media outlets reported that the the top candidates were Alabama associated head coach Sal Sunseri, Tulsa coach Todd Graham, Wisconsin offensive coordinator Paul Chryst and former Florida defensive coordinator Teryl Austin.
