Pacific basketball coach Bob Thomason has announced he will retire after next season.

Thomason said Monday that his 25th year as head coach at his alma mater will be his last.

Thomason has posted nine 20-win seasons, won five Big West coach of the year awards and led the Tigers to four NCAA tournament appearances. He won first-round games against Providence in 2004 and Pittsburgh in 2005.

The Tigers are leaving the Big West after this season to join the West Coast Conference. Thomason says he wants a new coach to lead that transition.
