July 19, 2010 /
Oakland University head men’s soccer coach Eric Pogue helped bring a national championship to Michigan as the Vardar Academy under-17/18 boys team won the United States Developmental Academy National Championship on Saturday at the Home Depot Center in Los Angeles. Pogue served as a primary assistant coach of the local team, which includes a pair of future OU players, Garth McClellan and Mich’ele Lipari.

“You only get a few chances to play for a national title, so I think this was a great experience for me and for the players,” said Pogue. “Demir Muftari did a great job coaching this team during the year and it was a great experience for me to get to work with them.”
