A New York high school basketball coach is facing an attempted murder charge after allegedly shooting the father of a player at the coach’s home.

According to the New York Post, the father, 47-year-old Christopher Hooks, went to the coach’s home in December to confront the coach about his son’s lack of playing time. Not long after, there was a shooting and few details about who pulled the trigger.

Todd Myles, the boys basketball coach at Paul Robeson High School in Brooklyn, told police that an unidentified third man showed up and started shooting. Hooks was shot in the neck, and Myles was grazed by a bullet on his left leg. The injury left Hooks unable to speak with detectives for a month, but once he was able to give a statement, he said it was the coach who fired the shots, according to WABC-TV.

In addition to attempted murder, Myles is charged with assault and criminal use of a firearm.
