Dana Harmon, director of physical education, recreation and athletics at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI), began working with BigSigns.com in 2013 with a goal of renovating the school’s varsity locker rooms that housed more than 600 student-athletes.

BigSigns.com’s Wonderwall Graphics SystemTM did the trick.

“Our goal with BigSigns.com was to provide an updated, engaging visual presentation of our athletic program in our main locker room hallway so that every day, our student-athletes would see and know our values and commitment to excellence in all that we do,” Harmon said.

“The project is located in the basement of our gym; although not the ideal location, it was an ideal opportunity to focus on our student-athletes and what we wanted to do for them and our athletic program,” she said. “This location allowed us to really hone in on our message to our current student-athletes and potential recruits.”

For WPI, a Division III program in Worcester, Maryland, it’s all about reputation — something that BigSigns.com is known for.

“BigSigns.com was great to work with from design to implementation,” Harmon said. “With every project, there can be bumps in the road, but BigSigns.com was exemplary in handling the various issues, coming up with solutions and meeting our needs in better ways than we thought.

“They have a great reputation and do great work.”

And student-athletes at WPI are thrilled with the outcome.

“Our student-athletes and department members love the visuals,” Harmon said. “They feel that we have visually elevated our values and commitment to excellence while transforming a dull, boring area into one we are very proud of.”

“I can’t tell you enough how important it is to visually present and showcase what your athletic program is all about,” she continued. “The Wonderwall Graphics gave us that opportunity.”

What’s next for WPI and BigSigns.com?

The duo will soon tackle a lobby redesign. BigSigns.com has provided a preliminary design while the institute waits for appropriate funding.
