Miami’s Larranaga Named National Coach Of The Year
A year after the former Hurricanes coach won the Henry Iba national coach of the year award at Missouri, Larranaga took the prize home to Coral Gables. Awarded by the United States Basketball Writers Association, it is considered one of the highest honors in the profession. Larranaga is in New York attending the wake for his high school basketball coach Jack Curran.
Larranaga led the Hurricanes to a 27-6 record, the ACC regular season and tournament titles.They face Pacific in Friday’s NCAA tournament second round as the No. 2 seed in Austin, Texas. He’s the first to win the honor at Miami.
