An 18-member IBCA committee co-chaired by Anderson University assistant Tom Beach and Cambridge City coach Chris Benedict worked for two years on a proposal to condense the current four-class basketball tournament to three classes. The proposed tournament would create two divisions within each class based on enrollment, resulting in 80 sectional winners. The divisions within each class would come together at the regional round.
IHSAA commissioner Bobby Cox previous expressed concerns with the increased travel with more sectionals and its financial impact.
