Lou Dawkins, head boys basketball coach at Saginaw High (Mich.), and who has led the squad to two of the last three state titles, was looking forward to coaching his star son this year who was to enter the ninth grade. However, Dawkins’ son, Dorian, passed away while playing basketball in June. Dawkins, who already was being recruited by D-I programs, collapse as he was about to shoot a free throw in a game.
