Bill Brought Due To Ed Thomas Killing Is Signed

Iowa Gov. Chet Culver signed a bill into law forcing hospitals to notify authorities before releasing mental patients wanted by police. The law was approved unanimously and comes into effect less than a year after Aplington-Parkersburg High School football coach Ed Thomas was shot in the school’s weigh room by a former player.
