Army Names New A.D.

WEST POINT — Boo Corrigan, the senior associate athletic director for external affairs at Duke, has been hired as Army’s new athletic director.

Corrigan replaces Kevin Anderson, who left the U.S. Military Academy in September after 5 1/2 years to become the athletic director at the University of Maryland.

“We are excited about the selection of Boo Corrigan to be Army’s athletic director,” United States Military Academy Superintendent Lt. Gen. David H. Huntoon said in a prepared statement. “He has wide experience in helping to lead a Division I athletic department and has excelled at the highest levels. He brings to the Military Academy a wealth of experience at some of the nation’s elite athletic programs.”

Corrigan, a 1990 graduate of the University of Notre Dame, spent nearly three years as the associate athletic director for marketing at the United States Naval Academy, where he helped Navy’s marketing department turn a profit in his first year in charge of the budget.

HE SPENT five years at his alma mater as an associate athletic director overseeing Notre Dame’s corporate relations and marketing, during which time he led the redesign of the athletics website and the addition a 15-20 hours of original video content each week, which triggered a 35 percent increase in page views and unique users.

SINCE August 2008, Corrigan has overseen Duke’s corporate sponsorships and the Marketing, Promotions, Ticket, Internet Operations, Sports Information and Video Services departments. He was responsible for the negotiation of a 40 percent increase in annual multimedia rights. He was also a supervisor of the Blue Devils’ national championship teams in men’s lacrosse (2010) and women’s tennis (2009), served on Duke’s Executive Budget Committee and currently sits on the NCAA Men’s Lacrosse Rules and Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Lacrosse committees.

He spent a year as a partner in Corrigan Sports Enterprises, an entrepreneurial sports marketing company and two years as an equity partner in mrgoodbucks.com, an e-commerce program that created affinity business relatonships. Corrigan served two years as vice president of EMCEE Sports, a sports marketing company with a focus on professional golf, and two additional years with Host Communications, which works with college athletic despartments, and as an assistant director of marketing at Florida State from 1992-95.

Army offers 25 Division I intercollegiate sports, most prominent among them its football team, which went 7-6 and beat Southern Methodist in the Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl in December.

Corrigan is the youngest son of former ACC commissioner Gene Corrigan. He is married with three children.
