Not a week goes by that Marty Sutherland doesn’t remember the life lessons he learned from his high school baseball coach more than a decade ago.
When Jerry Roling entered an elite class of Iowa coaches last week, he paused a moment to reflect on the impact he has made on hundreds of baseball players in Dubuque County over a 39-year head coaching career. Roling reached the 900-victory plateau on Friday when Dubuque Wahlert swept Linn-Mar, 14-2, 3-1, at Marion, Iowa.
