The Superdome turf is leaving New Orleans today and will be delivered Monday morning around 8 a.m. at Taylor High School, according to athletic director Larry Herges.

Taylor will have a new football field next season and this turf will be stored on campus in a courtyard at the elementary school until it is ready to be installed, Herges said.

Herges expects all of the NFL turf will be delivered Monday and Tuesday. There has been $100,000 set aside for installation from UBU, a company which also installed turf at Paul Brown Stadium and Nippert Stadium.  UBU is the turf company that had installed the turf in the Superdome.  They also have installed fields in the Metrodome and MetLife Stadium home of the Jets and Giants and this year’s Super Bowl.

“This turf is the same style used by the Bengals and UC,” Herges said. “Top of the line. It is a $900,000 piece of carpet and we got it for $146 (thousand).”
