C. Vivian Stringer, head women’s basketball coach at Rutgers, has been named a Distinguished Daughter of Pennsylvania by the state’s governor, Edward G. Rendell, and First Lady Judge Marjorie O. Rendell. Seven other women in a variety of professional fields also were recognized. Stringer is the only coach to take three different teams to the Final Four and is a member of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
