Oviedo High (Fla.) Looks To Tie State Record For Victories Tonight

Oviedo boys basketball coach Ed Kershner moved one victory from tying the state record for most victories in the sport after the Lions’ 70-36 victory against Winter Springs on Wednesday night.

Kershner has 759 victories in a career that began in 1980. That total is one more than Bernard Wilkes had at Jacksonville Ribault from 1977-2006 and one behind Don Wallen, the longtime coach at Stuart Martin County who retired in 1989.

Oviedo’s next game is against Plantation American Heritage at 5:30 p.m. Monday at the Great Florida Shootout in Kissimmee.
