The Overlake School (Redmond, Washington) Head Girls Lacrosse Coach Sue Haviland says that being a teacher and coach allows her (and her co-workers) to be more in-touch with student-athletes. The bond they form and open line of communication allows them to accommodate and understand their athletes off the court, building more trust and cohesion.

The Overlake School is a part of the Inaugural class of the “Interscholastic Program of Excellence.” Commissioned by Coach And Athletic Director, this program recognizes high school athletic programs that, through the efforts of their coaches and administrators, set the standard for integrity, sportsmanship and a positive overall experience for student-athletes.
