Vandy’s Stallings Pays $100K For Team To Take Trip

The economic crisis has hit every aspect of business, including big-time college athletics. So, despite planning for years for the Vanderbilt men’s basketball team to take an international trip (schools only are allowed to take one of these trips every four years), the school had to pull the plug on the idea when there wasn’t $100, 000 in the budget for it.

Head coach Kevin Stallings knew the importance of the trip to his experience-laden team, so he’s footing the entire bill. Stallings gave up $100, 000 of the salary owed to him and now the team is playing in Australia.
