San Diego St. basketball program reportedly under investigation

The San Diego State men’s basketball program is reportedly under investigation for potential violations committed by its staff, according to CBS Sports.

Sources told CBS Sports that violations may include improper benefits to prospects. Head coach Steve Fisher led Michigan to a national title in 1989 and was fired in 1997 for his role in the Ed Martin scandal.

Martin was charged in federal court with money laundering and running an illegal gambling operation, including loans he provided to prominent Michigan players. Michigan imposed sanctions on its basketball program and the NCAA placed the program on probation until 2006.

Fisher joined San Diego State in 1999, and since then has led the Aztecs to two Sweet 16 appearances and five Mountain West Conference titles.
