Kansas Coach Arrested After Allegedly Posing As Teen Online

An assistant boys high school basketball coach in Topeka, Kansas allegedly posed as a teenage girl on social media to get explicit photos from other teenagers, according to the FBI.

Jeffrey D. Pierce, the assistant basketball coach of Seaman (KS) High School, was arrested last week and charged with two counts of producing child pornography and one count of possessing it, according to a report from The Topeka Captial-Journal.

The FBI alleges that Pierce, 40, used various social media usernames and handles to communicate with his victims on Instagram, Snapchat, Kik, and Grindr, according to the report. The agency also provided the following user names that Pierce allegedly used as a means to communicate.

The production crimes allegedly occurred March 10 and March 14 and the possession crime allegedly occurred Sept. 2, according to the Topeka Capital-Journal.

“We are cooperating and working closely with the FBI to provide our complete support in every way possible,” Seaman Unified School District 345 superintendent Steve Noble told the Capital-Journal. “Our first concern right now is for the well-being of victims who were impacted by this case and this news.”

The report goes on to say Candace LeDuc, director of communications for the Seaman School District, said Pierce has been suspended and the school board will vote on a resolution to terminate him.

The FBI asks that any victims who may have been contacted by Pierce on social media to report the contact at [email protected]. Victims may be asked to provide additional information, but the FBI would provide the victims with information, assistance and resources.

In addition to his assistant boys’ basketball coaching role, Pierce was also a history teacher at the high school. He also worked for the Auburn-Washburn school district as a history teacher as well as coaching cross country, basketball, and track coach.
