ECU Basketball Coach Suspended

East Central University men’s basketball coach Mac McConnell has been suspended following a DUI arrest over the weekend.

Director of Athletics Jeff Williams released a statement Monday saying that McConnell will be suspended pending an investigation. McConnell was reportedly arrested Sunday morning in Ada.

“Coach McConnell has been suspended of his coaching duties while the charges against him are being investigated. We are also waiting for the legal process to run its course before taking further action, Williams said.

ECU assistant coach Trey Hendon will take over the head coaching duties on an interim basis.

McConnell’s team is 5-9 this season and 2-6 in conference play. The Tigers play at Southern Nazarene on Thursday.
