While University of Kentucky basketball coach John Calipari will have to rebuild his national championship team from the ground up, he will do it with his coaching staff intact.

ESPN reports Calipari said Tuesday that director of basketball operations Rod Strickland will remain with the Wildcats next year. There were rumors Strickland might join Larry Brown’s staff at SMU.

A few teams reportedly showed some interest in snagging UK assistant coaches Kenny Payne and Orlando Antigua, but they never went very far in the process. Assistant John Robic has worked with Calipari from day one at Kentucky.
