Secondary Nominations For Program Of Excellence Award Due By May 31

Just two weeks remain for secondary nominations in Coach And Athletic Director’s second annual Interscholastic Sports Program of Excellence!

Nominees were sent an email May 7 requiring that they fill out a three-page secondary nomination form to be eligible for the national award. Schools are required to provide information like participation rates, average student-athlete GPAs and community service efforts. That information will be presented to the judges, who will then make their decisions on the 2013 class of honorees.

Friday, May 31 is the last day to submit secondary nominations. This project aims to recognize high school athletic programs that, through the efforts of their coaches and administrators, set the standard for integrity, sportsmanship and a positive overall experience for student-athletes.

Last year, Coach And Athletic Director honored four of America’s high schools in the inaugural event. The class of honorees included The Overlake School (Redmond, Wash.), Vista Murrieta High School (Murrieta, Calif.), Mary Institute And Country Day School (St. Louis, Mo.) and St. Anthony Village High School (Minneapolis, Minn.). Profiles and videos from the winners can be found here.

Award recipients receive a visit from a Coach And Athletic Director editor and are profiled in an upcoming issue. They also receive publicity through a national media campaign.

“This award is one of a kind, and we’re proud to recognize athletic departments for their achievements in their communities and in the classroom,” says Managing Editor Kevin Hoffman. “Last year’s inaugural program was a complete success, and we hope to build on that in 2013 in recognizing a new crop of schools that are doing all they can to promote a positive experience for student-athletes.”

Those who were nominated but did not receive an email with the secondary form can email Hoffman at [email protected]. Submissions can be mailed, emailed or faxed to Coach And Athletic Director offices. An independent judging panel of coaches and athletic directors will select this year’s recipients, and winners will be notified this summer.
