Episode #12 — March 25, 2021 The Rash of Recent Events Involving Race & Athletics

In Episode 12, managing sports editor Wesley Sykes discusses the rash of recent events around the high school and collegiate game that has caught his attention for the wrong reasons.

He begins with a story out of Massachusetts where a high school football team allegedly used anti-Semitic language for its play calls. Then, he shifts to a story out of Oklahoma where an announcer was caught on a hot mic using racist language while referencing a high school girls’ basketball team that knelt during the national anthem. And, finally, he closes with two men’s collegiate basketball players receiving racist messages on social media after being ousted from the NCAA postseason tournament.
