Pa. youth football league cancels season over continued threats

A Pennsylvania youth football league has cancelled the remainder of its season after continued threats made against coaches and referees.

The Mount Pleasant Area Junior Football League posted a message on its Facebook page Tuesday night informing everyone in the league that the season was being called off. The league officers wrote that on Tuesday, “ammunition shells were placed at the field gate with names of the league officers printed with permanent marker.” They indicated the decision to discontinue the season was made with input from law enforcement.

WTAE in Pittsburgh reported that a fist fight broke out between parents just a few weeks ago. Parents also said a game earlier in the season was rescheduled due to threats.
