LSU football unveils air-conditioned helmets for players

In the rough-and-tumble SEC, regarded as the top-tier college football conference in the nation, any edge you can gain on your opponent can make a difference.

The LSU athletic department knows this — whether it’s on the field or the recruiting trail. Earlier this week players were shown new helmets that are air-conditioned. The AC helmets cool the players’ heads for up to five years.

A video of the player’s reactions was shared on social media. A recent story from Athlon Sports detailed the helmets’ features and the reaction from the LSU players.

“This will 100% be an advantage,” another football fan observed.

One fan had a humorous angle, joking, “Can’t wait until I tell my kids our helmets didn’t even have AC back in my day.”
